Judge Barbara Haslinger today sentenced Michael Lee Hanson to 100 months in the Oregon Department of Corrections. Mr. Hanson had earlier pled guilty to the following: unlawful use of a weapon, perjury, computer crime, two counts of felony attempt to elude and four counts of identity theft. Mr. Hanson’s crimes, which spanned a date range from August 2012 to February 2013, involved documents fraudulently filed with the Deschutes County Court, check/computer fraud and a high speed pursuit that began in residential Redmond and ended in rural Deschutes County. Two factors relevant to the sentencing court: Mr. Hanson’s criminal history, which included over 60 felony convictions, and the harm and risk that resulted from the criminal episodes. Judge Haslinger specifically applauded law enforcement efforts and their exemplary conduct under extremely difficult circumstances. DDA Eric Marvin, who prosecuted the case for the State, extended his gratitude to the law enforcement officers from Redmond Police Department, Oregon State Police, Bend Police Department and Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office who took part in the investigations and ultimate apprehension of Mr. Hanson. As always, the DA’s Office is thankful for our law enforcement partners’ continued professionalism and ability to execute in challenging circumstances.
