Former Cheerleading Coach is Convicted

November 18, 2013

A former Cheerleading Coach at La Pine High School was sentenced for sexual contact with a minor who was also a student at the High School.  The defendant was convicted of Sexual Abuse II and Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor and sentenced to 36 months of supervised probation, 10 days jail, sex offender treatment conditions and specials conditions related to alcohol treatment.  The defendant will be a registered Sex Offender.  DDA Matt Nelson worked closely with the School Resource Officer (SRO), a Deputy from the Deschutes County Sheriff's office, to hold this offender accountable.  The SRO Program has been an important tool in fighting the sexual abuse of children and increasing the safety of the children in our community.  Thank you to all of the officers and deputies who serve in this capacity.
