False Report of Stuffed Animal in Road Scam

December 10, 2018

On November 16, 2018, Bend Police Officers became aware of a posting on Facebook about a startling incident that had allegedly occurred two days earlier. According to the author of the post, her mother was the victim of a bizarre and terrifying incident on Shevlin Park Road. In her post, the daughter said that her mother was driving alone in her car when she struck a dog in the roadway. When the mother got out of her car to render aid, she realized what she struck was actually a stuffed animal. Then two men suddenly appeared, pointed a knife at her, slammed her against her car, robbed her of the $4,000 that was in her purse, and fled in a black van. The daughter said in her post that her mother reported the incident to the police. The daughter was merely relating what her mother told her of the incident – the daughter was not in the car with her mother. To see full press relase and additional information, click here.
