Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office Celebrates 30th Anniversary of Victims of Crime Act
District Attorney Patrick J. Flaherty and the Victims’ Assistance Program will initiate recognition of the National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (April 6th-12th) on Monday April 7th at 1:15pm on the front steps of the historic courthouse at 1164 NW Bond, in Bend. The ceremony will include remarks from District Attorney Patrick Flaherty and Deschutes County Commissioner Tammy Baney.
This year’s theme—30 Years: Restoring the Balance of Justice—presents a perfect opportunity to recognize a few of our community partners and their long-term commitment to victims of crime. As we celebrate three decades of defending victims’ rights, we are reminded of how far we have come—and how much work is yet to be done. The District Attorney’s message to all victims of crime is this: “You are not alone.”
Patrick J. Flaherty will also be announcing on Monday information about a new grant available to assist local agencies that serve victims of crime within Deschutes County.
Deschutes County Juvenile Community Justice recognizes National Crime Victims’ Rights Week during April by: conducting victim empathy classes to the youth detention population and victim empathy classes in Bend, Redmond and La Pine, educating staff by sharing 30 years: Restoring the Balance of Justice and posting information in public areas.
Did you know during 2013 that Juvenile Community Justice collected 80% restitution ordered for victims?
