On May 14, 2018, Robert Garris, a 39-year old resident of Medford, shot Christopher Nolan, a 39-year old resident of Bend, four times. The shooting occurred adjacent to a picnic table outside the Jack in the Box restaurant in Northeast Bend. Nolan is convalescing at St. Charles Hospital in Bend and is expected to survive.
