DDA Moore Receives Longer Sentence in Conviction

The last few weeks we have been very busy with several trials, but in one case, the extra effort by DDA Drew Moore resulted in a longer sentence for the defendant. Officer Kennedy of Sunriver Police Department responded to a 911 call where the victim stated defendant Hutchins had assaulted her and broke her glasses. The call had been disconnected because the defendant had threatened to kill her. She was scared of him and complied. Officer Kennedy found evidence of injury on her face and her glasses broken. The victim subsequently reported that during this time the defendant also strangled her. He was convicted at trial by a jury. DDA Drew Moore found that the defendant 5 previous arrests for Domestic Violence since 1994, after researching court records from other counties. The defendant was sentenced to jail, probation and treatment.
