Moral and ethical principles, as well as individual and organizational integrity should be paramount to all who work in public office. These recent events serve to remind us how important those values are. We hold law enforcement personnel to a higher standard than other community members because we are public servants. This is a very noble profession. The vast majority of the men and women in law enforcement live up to the highest standards of personal and professional conduct, every day.
I want to thank all of our Deschutes County law enforcement for remaining diligent and courageous during this difficult time. We all serve a greater purpose together and I hope that we can move forward from these events and work together to focus on public safety and justice, while serving the citizens of Deschutes County with honor and to the very best of our ability.
